What is a Pledge?

'Pledging' is seizing the opportunity to tackle something that you have always wanted to do, or feel you should have done - but never quite had the moment, excuse or motivation to do it.

Making a pledge need not be limited to physical challenges but to all aspects of improving your health and well-being be those mental, physical or psychological.

For example learning to play a piece of music, taking a creative art class or getting in touch with an old friend.

why?

As a General Practitioner with a special interest in preventative and palliative care, I have become very aware that much of our own well-being can be defined by the choices we alone make.

Too often we do not realise what extraordinary things can happen when we put our minds to them.

In May 2022 I have pledged to take part in EPIC DECA – 10 IronMan Triathlons over 10 days, across six Hawaiian Islands – an ambitious venture which should reveal my own limits and capabilities!

Instead of asking for the more traditional charitable donation, I am hoping that you will make your own Pledge – to discover something new about yourself and what you can achieve.
